STOP is a community library project located at the edge of the reclamation area in Beirut, in the traditional context of Gemmayzeh witnessing the invasion of high rise buildings. The library conceptual approach is a statement in the area protesting with the community against the high rise non-contextual buildings and reviving the old urban mesh: pedestrian walkways, recess from the road and to human scale public quality. It also creates a public space at its ground floor, awakening the right to the city, the right to public spaces and to traditional spatial qualities and collective memory experiences.
